CDD and Fuso trucks are the two units most often used for intercity shipments in Java. Both can look right for the same load, but their cost and risk differ.

Capacity and dimensions

A CDD box truck safely carries about 4 tonnes or 14 m³. A Fuso box truck carries about 8 tonnes or 25 m³. If your load falls in between, work out its volume and weight first. Light, bulky goods often fill the body before the weight limit is reached.

Warehouse access and operating hours

A Fuso is longer and needs a wider turning circle. Many warehouses in town centres, markets or shophouse areas can only take a CDD. Also check truck curfews in the destination city: some roads ban three-axle trucks at peak hours.

Cost per tonne

A Fuso costs more per truck, but its cost per tonne is usually 15–25% lower when the body is full. If the load is only half a truck, a CDD is almost always cheaper.

For regular shipments with changing volumes, a mix of both is often most efficient: a Fuso for the base volume and a CDD for the overflow in busy weeks.

Summary

  • A CDD suits loads up to about 4 tonnes or 14 m³.
  • A Fuso carries up to about 8 tonnes but needs wider warehouse access.
  • Compare cost per tonne, not the rate per truck.
