Challenge
A snack food exporter in Semarang ships a 40 ft FCL to Rotterdam every month. Export documents were often incomplete when the container was already at the port.
Containers waiting for paperwork incurred demurrage and sometimes missed the vessel, so buyers in Europe received goods late.
- Documents from many partiesCertificate of Origin, health certificate and fumigation come from different agencies.
- Tight closing timesDocuments must be complete before the vessel cut-off.
- EU requirementsLabels and certificates must meet destination rules.

Solution
-
1
Checklist five days ahead
The forwarding team checks every document five days before stuffing.
-
2
Certificates scheduled
Health certificate and fumigation requests are timed to the stuffing date.
-
3
Scheduled stuffing
Containers are stuffed at the exporter's warehouse and go straight to the terminal before cut-off.
-
4
Documents to the buyer
Copies of the B/L and certificates reach the buyer before the vessel sails.
